Denise & Jake

This was our very first wedding shoot. This is what started it all for us. We didn’t have fancy equipment, we didn’t prepare to be the photographers, but we love taking pictures and when we showed up that day as guests we realized Denise & Jake had forgone the luxury of hiring a professional photographer and were relying solely on friends and families point-and-shoots. We busted out our (little baby) DSLR and went nuts. Keith, me, and our dear friend, Justin Moorland, took these photographs.

The couple wanted a vibrant, colorful, fun coffee house wedding. Shuga’s Coffee Shop in Colorado Springs was perfect not only because of it’s colorful interiors and eclectic collection of garden chairs, but because the owners are friends of theirs.

The favors for the wedding doubled as floral decor. Little potted plants with blush-colored terra-cotta pots adorned the tables on the patio, while flower seeds were set in several cute little boxes decorated big white mums were also placed around the reception for guests.

The sidewalk became the aisle with this luscious turquoise backdrop as the bride’s mother escorted her down the street to Shuga’s. The bride’s brother played acoustic guitar for her as she walked towards the coffee shop.

I get the best hugs from brides on their wedding day. Ever notice that?
Rather than a serving a formal wedding cake, or cupcakes {which is now becoming the norm!} they served these DELICIOUS petit fours. They were a surprising formal treat to the laid-back ease of the afternoon wedding.
